Have an idea for a newsletter you want to write but feel daunted by the blank email page? Already collecting emails from people interested in your project but overwhelmed about where to start?
Launch is a quick start guide to an no-nonsense, non-spammy newsletter that’s sustainable with your time and your audience.
I’m Taylor Kate Brown, a writer, editor and newsletter strategist. I’ve helped newsrooms and organizations large and small improve their newsletters. I managed massive growth of the email program at the San Francisco Chronicle and have developed emails series, editorial templates and email appeals for a range of individual writers, nonprofits and news outlets.
I developed Launch because my full consulting services don’t often make financial sense for people at the very start of building their own newsletter, unsure if success is even possible.
I wanted to offer a real resource for when you’re just getting started in a way that’s sustainable for my own business.
Launch is very similar to the process I go through with almost every client, but distilled down into structured questions and high-level recommendations. It’s designed to offer clarity that allows you to quickly and confidently get to writing, and sending your emails. And it’s a fraction of my hourly rate.
Who Launch is for:
- Individual writers who are just getting started with a newsletter
- Creators, musicians, streamers, influencers, etc — anyone who wants to connect and keep up to date with their audiences, but aren’t sure where to start with building an email channel and what content you should include.
- A sustainability creator who is growing tired of chasing trends on TikTok and wants to understand your audience in a different way.
- A Etsy seller who wants to tell the story of your craft and drive customer loyalty
- A researcher or analyst who spends a lot of time reading and wants to share the most interesting things you’ve come across in this past week and stay in the conversation in your industry
- A book lover who wants to talk more about what you’re enjoying (and not) outside of the review sites and social media.
- A writer who started a politics newsletter two years ago but has struggled to publish regularly
